MARKETING TECHNOLOGY
Before adding another marketing tool
A better stack begins with a clearer picture of the work.
Map what already exists
List the tools currently used, what each one does and who owns it. Include spreadsheets and manual processes: they are often important parts of the real operating model.
Trace the information
Follow a lead or customer record from its first touchpoint to the next meaningful action. Identify where information is copied, lost, duplicated or held without a clear purpose.
Write requirements before comparing vendors
Describe the workflow, necessary integrations, permissions, reporting and operating constraints. These requirements give a product comparison a practical foundation.
Plan for daily operation
The purchase is only one part of implementation. Consider how the system will be maintained, how failures are noticed and who can make changes safely. Documentation and ownership belong in the project scope.
Choose the smallest useful improvement
Sometimes the right next step is a new tool. Sometimes it is a cleaner process or a connection between tools you already have. Make that decision against the problem you set out to solve.
